Little Stream Bakery

Little Stream Bakery hand crafts each loaf of its naturally leavened (no yeast added), stone
ground flour bread using only organically grown grains. The loaves are then baked to
perfection in a wood fired oven. Taste the difference that integrity and commitment to
quality can bring!

At Little Stream we take bread's reputation as the staff of life seriously. We bake simply;
most of our breads contain only whole grains, deep well water & unrefined sea salt with the
occasional addition of seeds.

The Bakery

Little Stream Bakery is located in the Upper Ottawa Valley on transitional land at the edge
of the Canadian Shield. We are a small business with environmental integrity and pride
ourselves in hand crafting each loaf. With our expansion and relocation to a renovated
dairy in the hamlet of Glen Tay, near Perth, we are now able to complement our staple line
of breads with a variety of rustic pastries.

Since establishing Little Stream Bakery in 1992, we continue to receive many letters and
phone calls from our customers saying how much they enjoy our bread. Our baked goods
are available in fine natural and fresh food stores and are served in several select
restaurants throughout Eastern Canada and the North East U.S.A.

Green Energy

We try to leave the smallest footprint possible in all of our energy consumption. All of our
electricity is purchased from Bullfrog Power - a provider of power exclusively from wind
and certified low impact hydro sources. We use solar hot water which supplies 70% of our
hot water. Our southwest facing roof is covered with a 10kw photovoltaic solar system,
which supplies the electrical grid with clean green energy. Employees shifts are
coordinated to facilitate car pooling and cycling when ever possible. The main delivery
vehicle is natural gas powered and the other a mini-van.

Where is the Little Stream?

beck: noun (N. Engl.) -Brook, mountain stream

Graham Beck, founder of Little Stream Bakery, chose to use a North American form of his
English name for the bakery. We subsequently adopted the stream from the original bakery
site as a symbol for our extraordinary commitment to organic farming and wholesome
foods. The gentle and forgiving manner in which a stream erodes its bed signifies slow and
consistent change. We feel our holistic approach helps us offer a serious alternative to
industrial food.
